In this report, moderate Muslims in Australia  denounce and distance themselves from terrorist activities.

This is an example of the complicity of moderate religious populations in the excesses fanatics get up to.  Fanatics would not have sacred texts to study and build upon and take to horrifying conclusions if they had not received these notions by way of the cultural transmissions, sanctions, and authentications  provided by moderate religious populations.  The ironic fact that fanatics regularly turn upon these religious populations for not being rigorous and faithful enough the read and follow Holy Writ closely is an additional irony.
